The old cliché of the Starving Artist needs to die. Please let’s have a funeral and bury it. Somewhere along the road, we aspiring artists (singers, dancers, musicians, actors, etc) have taken pride in being broke. We tell our stories of rationing 1 pack ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, jumping turnstiles, taking bird baths in public restrooms, and many other stories of not having 2 nickels to our name. Why are we proud of this? We wear these stories like a badge of honor. So, you’re proud that you overlooked opportunities to become financially literate, use group economics, and generate a passive income while pursuing your career goals? In my opinion, you should be embarrassed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not being a judgmental prick. I’m coming at you all as an intervention. There are several ways to earn an income while simultaneously working on your career. Stop! Don’t even give me that bullshit about having to be on set for hours, rehearsals, or the same ol’ #TechWeekProbs. I’ve been at performances and handling Navy business in between scenes, been at rehearsals signing up team members on breaks, and having many things set on autopilot; all running while I’m performing.
You don’t know what to do differently which is why you continue doing the same thing. What’s the definition of insanity? I think you already know. It is time to change our ways. Knowledge is power and because I have knowledge on how to earn money passively I am going to share. I will also recommend resource to help increase your financial literacy. Let’s work together. Team work makes dream work.
I am on a hiatus from acting and modeling because I don’t want to be a starving artist. I don’t want to rob Peter to pay Paul then rob Matthew to pay Peter. It’s not impossible! I have the right tools, the right products, and am doing the work it takes to bring in the money. You can do the same, but you must be willing to get out of your own way and learn. I am willing to teach you however I cannot teach you everything. I had to make sacrifices to learn these things and pay my fees to learn.
Anything that I recommend to you has been tried and tested. I have made money from them all. I won’t lead you astray. I highly recommend you start with assessing your finances. You may find a few extra dollars if you change your spending habits. You won’t find a bunch, but you’ll find a few. Once you’ve done that then you can move on to
